In it, they cast on 16 stitches and then checked to ensure it was the right width 10 lines in. I'm sure he would not be too difficult to do something similar ... Sample 16x10 does not take too long to knit.
Try wrapping the wire around the hanger until it is covered, put your finger on the nearest end of the skein son, or just tie a knot, pull down the wire, and then cast on Using the long tail method.
