Where to find Japanese Decorations When we think of Africa, we think not of cities but of jungles and lions. Yet there are cities there. When one thinks of England one thinks not of cities, but the castles and knights in armor. So it is with Japan - one thinks of castles and samurai, but no modern day interior design trends.
If you are looking for authentic Japanese furniture, there are quite a few sites on the web where you can see what is available, what they look like, and how much they cost.
But ask yourself ... what is authentic Japanese furniture? There are the classic models everyone thinks - mats, screens, pillows, futons. But the Japanese furniture design did not stop, nor is the furniture design of any other country, and there are many things out there looking modernist with just a hint of oriental flair to this topic .

If you see an interesting piece of sculpture or ornamentation, or a fascinating piece of furniture design, purchase by all means. It always comes down to what you like. But your assessment of these parts can be improved if you know the story behind each piece (if applicable). So do a little research on the history of the domestic life of these countries.

I liked their platform bed Japanese Style Kyoto, which comes with shoulder pads so you can sit and read before retiring for the night. Very elegant looking. Among other offerings is the bed Kenso platform, which is what we usually think when the thought of Japanese bed!
Haiku Designs also offers water fountains inside, but curiously not the lotus pond which triggered Europa their bedroom in the photo description!

I thought it was interesting to note that these tables available Maru, which are constructed from "floor plates of Korean Centennial. These boards are three inches thick and were "used in homes aristocrat to their major parts and porches. ... Well it's better than the old advice should still see the use of being burned for produce fuel, but what a pity that the buildings which they are derived must no longer be in existence ...
I like the fact that all their furniture is made from reclaimed wood, however - which is a point of honor with them and I think it makes much sense. "Keep it Green" is their motto.
Oriental Furniture is another of the many Web sites that offer furniture and ornaments - statues, etc. from Japan and China. I especially liked their statuary and paintings on silk, and they also have jade carvings.
