Large Tv Stands

We are looking for a flat screen plasma TV. I saw that they come on these stands pedastle Dinky. I wonder what is the best choice to keep the TVs safe and secure as possible when you live in an earthquake zone? I have a great TV stand. Is it better to fix it on the TV stand and wall with earthquake straps or get one of the frames attached to the wall and do it that way?
