Linksys Dma2200

I try to get a PVR, I did some research and Tivo requires a service fee, I do not want to attach myself to a service fee. I'm constantly flying and I hate missing my football games and other television programs. I have regular cable (no box at this time, just the cable that comes from the wall). I do not want to invest much money either. I want to use it much like we use to using a VCR, the show program and save it in later, it shows. I found the Linksys DMA2200 Media Center Extender, but I'm not sure how it works.

You first need a way to send the cable signal into your computer. cable USB-to-TV i use Pinnacle. these are about $ 50 in any computer store. it comes with its own software, but as you know, Windows Media Center also works.

Once you have the adapter, simply connect the cable, and your computer. you will be able to enter and open the WMC "TV" application. Use Settings "scan for channels, as you would with a new TV. then you can set up recordings using the same program. is quite explicit when you reach this point.

Although this works, I recognize that this is not as convenient as a unit of TiVo.
