Yeah, it's sand. Maybe after the first. I tried to spray paint on wood, and it seems to work for me on little things like picture frames but I painted a wooden bench last summer, and things quickly peel (I did not sand or premium).

If it is real wood, lightly sand the stand, then wipe dry before applying the paint - it will help the paint adhere better. I recommend two coats of spray paint ..

If the particle is covered with laminate, clean thoroughly before applying the paint, or it may peel later.

I semi-gloss, but the spray paint would work.
