Spain Hotel Rating Guide Can you expect any star in Spain the same thing?
The short answer is definitely NO. Each of the seventeen regions in Spain have given an official note on their own terms making it impossible to make an informed choice (based on only one classification) when deciding where to live. The only common factor in all regions is that the hotels they rate as one, two, three, four or five stars according to the facilities offered.
Generally five stars is generally up to the expectations of customers because they are the end of the luxury market and are typically offered by hotel chains that have international or national brand quality to match. Being the high end market, they are of course only for those who can pay a clientele with high expectations.
Four and three star hotels in Spain tend to be the institutions most disappointed when it comes to customer expectations that they vary widely by region and town to town. It is not uncommon to find a three star hotel where guests view that the four-star and one star to four clients for consideration as three.
To add to the confusion the official list, the hotel is not necessarily the one that customers see as most hotels are booked online or through tourist brochures which have their own star rating criteria ( or the sun, the corona, the key, the moon, etc. diamond). It is also very common for clients to have their own idea of what it really means a classification based on service and comfort of the hotels in their own country. In Spain, the service and especially the type of food offered is different from other European destinations and / or course is "typically Spanish", as one might expect.
