Trunk Coffee Table Any ideas for beautifying the trunk of a table to coffee? I'd like to get this trunk and use it as a coffee table. However, I would like some ideas on what I can do to add a few touches of its own. I do not look close enough HG TV ... but I feel like there must be some cool ideas out there for that. HELP! Cool body with good bone. There are so many ideas to suit your decor. You can add embellishments like patches of timber that can be painted or stained. Check both Home Depot and Lowes because there are many to choose from. You can add a piece of glass up and postcards, insert pictures, ticket stubs, really a kind of memories to form a collage. You can use tile, stone or broken tiles to create a mosaic on top. You can add feet to raise it (which can be as simple as drapery finials, or fence post topper or you can find a great selection in furniture stores). You can add almost any kind of material on the sides to match your theme or decor. You can decopage points of interest anywhere to make it look like a vintage travel trunk. Really, the possibilities are endless, you can also distress, you can add a stain or varnish, you can paint ... I would like sanding and finishing. Keep single .. is more charming that way. You can get iron handles and add to each side. Whatever you decide to use sand .. is good .. on the finished side and use several layers of polyurethane .. I prefer bright here .. but use what your "eye" like "here are some ideas .. Depends on the rest of your decor rooms. I would clean it with detergent and bleach to 10%, followed by a dark spot and some rustic harware as a lock and handles. Posted on May 16, 2010.
