Best furniture wood dining room for a baby? I'm looking to buy and new dining room set. I love wood, but the last series we had was very soft. I think it's pine. Anyway, I'm looking for a durable wood that would be good with a little. Ideas?
Oak is hard - anything from a tree that loses its leaves will be harder than the pine or evergreen. You can also search for "distressed" finish (not perfectly smooth at first, but seems slightly worn), or get something cheap, like IKEA, and replaced in a few years. Or, pads on chairs and a glass top on the table to prevent it tainted. We have a glass top on our wooden table, and while I'm cleaning it after every meal, I also understand that a wood table would be just as dirty - it's just that the dirt was hiding better. (Ew.)
Good luck, and happy shopping. :)
I just want to keep your old until your little one is slightly older. My 21 months has accidents (such as coloring it all) all the time.
The oak is great. I bought a nice set on Craigslist for probably 25% what it would cost new in a store ...
