Wood File Box

Wood File Boxdecorating ideas for hiding the box?

bought a wooden box to store balsam crafts to keep little things on my table lamp - a nail file, lip balm, etc. In addition to painting, how can I decorate quickly and easily? I wondered about tearing pieces of tissue paper in bright colors and glue them on, which overlap in interesting colorations. What kind of glue would I need to use? Something special or just ordinary white glue watered down a bit?

How about you, cutting, placing rinestones on it. u for your idea tissues would use what is called Mod Podge.

Yep, add a little water and paste a version of its very cheap glue that Drys clear, it starts with one thing i P

60% 40% glue and water mix
also try to soak the paper in yo mix also added.

:) I hope that works

Bless

colored fabrics work very well, and can be done with white glue. Some suggestions for different effects. If you "paint" the box with a layer of glue Plain (let dry) to seal the colors of the fabric will be lighter than if you just put it on the wood. Work in small areas and overlap everything. Do not try to move the paper around the time it is wet (it tears easily) and do not dip it in glue since the dyes will bleed into the glue and it will not be clear and dry. You can overlay other things with the paper too ... think feathers, photos, glitter, etc. Experience tear and cut paper, because they both give different effects. You can keep the colors more true by applying the paper in layers and let dry between coats as well. Once you are satisfied with the final look, add a final layer of white glue over the entire box to be sealed, little felt circles on bottom to protect the table and you're done!

Decoupaging with absorbent paper is an excellent idea, and that the other person mentioned, you can get excellent results with Mod Podge. They also sell special paper made for cutting (with beautiful objects and models) in the craft shops. To see an example of a box full of boats cutting, see the link below.

Here are some ideas to consider:

1. Use scrapbooking embellishments! Depending on what you plan to use the box, you can decorate it to match the theme, ie using ribbon if you plan to store your stash box tape. There are so many varieties to choose from including embellishments of beads and buttons!

2. Use rubber-stamp/clear-stamps. You can stamp directly onto your box, or paint first, then stamp on it. You can also use embossing powder to look more dimensions. Combined with some scrapbooking embellishments or beads / buttons for a more elaborate style.

Here's a sample of what I did with the clear-stamps on "nude" retailer IKEA: http://ztampf.com/ztampfest/v/ClearStamps/ZtampfClearStamps_Stamped01a_L.jpg.html

And then I used embossing powder + buffer on leather, but it would also be woodworking:

Hopefully this helps:).
